Notes on the table
- RightCapital has no free plan on its pricing page. It offers a 14-day free trial.
- Its probability of success comes from a Monte Carlo simulation of 1,000 trials, per its analysis help article. Its stress test applies one hypothetical stress at a time, such as a market drop or higher inflation.
- Medicare is marked Partial because its tax planning page describes Roth conversions up to Medicare premium brackets. We didn't find a separate IRMAA projection described.
- CSV is marked Partial because its estate help article describes downloading trust cash flows as .csv files. We didn't find a general export described.
- Account aggregation, budgeting and the Iris AI planning agent are listed on the Premium tier and up.
- Its features page says “Client Portal and Mobile App” but doesn't name the phone platforms.
- Plot My Money runs up to 1,000 simulated markets on the free plan and up to 10,000 on Plus.
- Plot My Money on a phone is an installable web app, not a store app.
- Plot My Money doesn't link accounts. You enter balances by hand or import them from files.

Who should pick which
- Pick RightCapital if you run an advisory practice and want planning, aggregation, a client app and CRM or custodian links in one subscription.
- Pick RightCapital if your firm needs team seats, firm-level settings or compliance tracking.
- Pick Plot My Money if you're a household planning your own retirement and want monthly safe-to-spend figures and detailed tax and Social Security modeling.
- Pick Plot My Money if you're an advisor who wants to set up plans and hand them to clients, and you don't need CRM or custodian links.
How to switch
Plot My Money doesn't import RightCapital files, so you set up your plan again. Have your latest balances, pay, spending and Social Security estimates to hand.
- Start a plan and answer the setup questions about your household, income, spending and accounts.
- If you have a holdings file, import it as Excel or CSV on the Accounts screen.
- Add Social Security from your SSA statement, plus pensions and any other income.
- Compare the results with your old plan. Differences usually come from assumptions about returns, inflation, taxes and spending.
You can download your plan as a JSON file at any time. See getting started and importing and exporting.
